The firm recently launched Good Protein Fund, which plans to make 30+ investments in the alternative protein sector globally. Responsibilities
Reporting to the Managing Partners, the individual in this role will be involved in every aspect of the investment process across 30+ investments, including sourcing, evaluation, due diligence and closing. This is an exciting opportunity to work as a core part of the investment team. The successful candidate will engage with portfolio companies, investors and key stakeholders in the ecosystem while building an understanding of the market and defining future trends and opportunities.
Sourcing & Evaluation
Conduct market research on industry segments and themes
Identify primary and secondary opportunities for investment
Perform valuation analysis and determine investment thesis
Collaborate with team members to discuss potential investment opportunities
Develop a point of view on the most compelling sector investments
Support the construction and evaluation of fund portfolio
Due Diligence & Closing
Lead and conduct due diligence through qualitative and quantitative analysis, meetings with stakeholders, on-site visits and reference checks
Prepare deal memos and participate in discussions with the investment committee
Drive the closing process with a methodical, detail-oriented approach
Thought Leadership
Develop thesis about industry trends and opportunities
Author internal and external research briefs on behalf of the fund
Stay updated and synthesize industry news and reports
Participate in industry events and conferences
Monitoring & Compliance
Prepare quarterly reports, fund materials and compliance-related documents
Work with legal, tax and compliance experts on fund management
Monitor investment pipeline and allocations
Create processes for efficient fund management and administration
Investor Relations & Portfolio Support
Support relationships with Limited Partners working with fund administrator
Foster connections with potential investors and stakeholders in the ecosystem
Nurture strong connection with portfolio companies through ongoing communication and collaboration
Requirements
5+ years of experience in a similar role focused on investment analysis and due diligence
MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred
Strong modeling and quantitative analysis skills, coupled with writing and qualitative analysis to create a strong, defensible investment thesis
An ability to synthesize complex data and present it in a clear manner as part of a cohesive argument
Detail-orientation for methodical analysis, due diligence and closing
Professional presence and strong relationship skills to interact effectively with startups, investors, influencers and ecosystem stakeholders
A willingness to establish a point of view and develop conviction as it relates to investment decisions, while being open to new ideas, approaches and positions
A capacity to create thought leadership and spot trends and opportunities in the market
A self-starter who can work with a small, high-performing team environment while managing a wide range of responsibilities
Desire to build a career in venture capital investing
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
